PALADIN – Electro Live Session – Richard Aicher & Sebastian Brand

PALADIN is a 5½-minute live improvisation, recorded in my electronic music studio.
Together with Sebastian Brand, this performance is a pure live electronic session – no playback, no overdubs. Everything was played in real time.
PALADIN is a tribute to the legendary Flying P-Liners – the fast and graceful sailing ships of the Hamburg shipping company F. Laeisz, all of which bore names starting with the letter „P.“ These vessels were renowned for their speed and exceptional safety. Their distinctive color scheme featured a black hull above the waterline, a white stripe at the waterline, and a red underwater section.
The title refers to the wooden barque PALADIN, launched in 1877 and active on the world’s oceans until 1883. Sailors often called these ships “Hamburg Four-Masters” – the High German version of the old sea shanty Hamborger Veermaster.

Hier ein neuer Track. Electronic Live Impro zusammen mit DJ MonoManuell. 13min. PERSIMMON von Ambient über DrumBeats, von Experimental nach SciFi….. Live Electronic Improvisation, wie gewohnt.
(Persimmon ex Drumrock, ein Schnellsegler der Flying P-Liner, Viermastbark (1899-1912)). Und Drumrock passt hier für den Track.

Sci-fi-inspired sound design enters the fray, creating moments of tension and release, as echoes of distant voices, mechanical hums, and alien frequencies warp the listener’s perception of space and time. Through this improvisational exploration, Richard Aicher and MonoManuell guide us on a sonic voyage, where ambient tranquility and experimental chaos coexist, offering a truly unique experience in electronic music.

The track closes with a lingering afterglow, as soft, glowing tones fade into the vast unknown, leaving an open-ended sense of possibility — a fitting conclusion to an immersive sonic exploration.
